1) v25 - Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
2) v26 - The birds of the air … your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
3) v27 - And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
4) v30 - But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you.
5) v32 - For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
6) v34 - Tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
v33 - Seek the Kingdom
He Provides
He Provides the Right Amount
He Provides at the Right Time
He Provides in the Right Order
Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Proverbs 12:25
Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down,
but a good word makes him glad
John 4:31–34
Meanwhile the disciples were urging him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.” So the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?” Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.
Matthew 4:4
Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.
Revelation 3:5
The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life.
Matthew 8:20
Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.
Isaiah 53:5
But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.
John Piper
What we see when we look at the birds is a creature who does not act as though God is only a merciful provider for today but won’t be tomorrow. Birds don’t anxiously horde things for the day of God’s demise. They go about their work as though when the sun comes up tomorrow, God will still be God.
John Piper
We must not measure the perfection of God’s provision by some standard below his calling. He does not call us to live in palaces, but to take up our crosses and love people no matter the cost. And when we have finished carrying our crosses—on torn shoulders, if God wills—there will be kingly robes for us all.
Great is Thy Faithfulness
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
