and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

Herman Ridderbos
[The] absolutely theocentric character of the kingdom of God in Jesus’ preaching … implies that its coming consists entirely in God’s own action and is perfectly dependent on his activity. The kingdom of God is not a state or condition, not a society created and promoted by men …. It will not come through an immanent earthly evolution, nor through moral action; it is not men who prepare it for God.

Mark 9:7 (ESV)
This is my beloved Son; listen to him.

Mark 3:9 (ESV)
And he told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, lest they crush him,

Psalm 118:1 (ESV)
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever!

Mark 8:31 (ESV)
And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again.

Mark 13:37 (ESV)
And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.”
