<itunes:subtitle>One of the first gifts God gave to humanity was food in the garden. Meals have played an integral part in the feasts of the people of God. All of humanity, whether acknowledging God as their provider or not, have gathered around the table to eat and to fellowship.
Jesus spends much of the book of Luke around a meal table with a diverse gathering of persons. Here we see him enjoying the gift of God while creating a new fellowship; a fellowship of brothers and sisters around a table of grace.</itunes:subtitle>

  <description>Sermon Notes
Preacher: Jeremiah Fyffe
v1-6 - THE TRAP
v7-11 - TO THE GUEST
v12-24 - TO THE HOST
Luke 14:24
For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste my banquet.
Proverbs 25:6–7
Do not put yourself forward in the king’s presence
or stand in the place of the great, for it is better to be told, “Come up here,”
than to be put lower in the presence of a noble.
Revelation 19:9
Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.
C. S. Lewis
It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about … like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.
ETrade Commercial
There they are. Your neighbors. You like them. They always remember everyone’s names. Your kids love swimming in their pool. You love them. You forget your trucks, they’ll loan you some. They have a section in their stock portolio just for pool stuff. Everyone likes them. You like them. But you’d like them better if you made more money than they do. Don’t get mad at your well-loved neighbors. Get e-trade.
